Hey guys, Parker with Homegrown Cannabis Co. And today we're at Mighty Hydro and we're gonna check out some of the supplies that I most commonly use in my garden. And I think you may make some use of yourself.
And one of the things, whether you're starting some seedlings or transplanting, this mycorrhizal root inoculant is great. So, uh, it gets biology in around the rhizosphere, it's gonna help with nutrient uptake and lower stress. So, uh, anytime I'm getting plants going, I make sure to have a bag of this on hand.
Onto our next thing. So, uh, you've seen me use this in a few videos. This is just a brick of coco. So if you're doing any type of hydroponics, uh, even if you want a filler for your soil, this stuff is, uh, relatively cheap. It expands into a pretty large volume just out of this brick. And so, uh, this is nice to have on hand as well. It's great for starting plants, uh, like I said, mixing into soil.
Um, next up, you've probably seen me use this stuff. This is a great brand and this particular product, Bio Live, is kind of an all-purpose fertilizer amendment. So when I'm resetting and reusing my soil, I love to use this stuff. And one of the things I really like about this is that it has a huge amount of, uh, microorganisms and beneficial fungi already mixed in. So, um, yeah, if you have depleted your nutrients in your soil, you want to amend it and you don't want to get all these different things, this has a little bit of everything, and it's a great product.
Another thing that you'll find in my garden at all times, and you'll probably find in yours, is earthworm castings. This stuff is great to add to the plant at any stage of its life. Uh, it's hard to go too heavy on this stuff. It's great for microbial life. The plants love it, and I definitely make sure to have a bag of this on hand.
So, whether you're growing indoor or outdoor, here's a couple of things that you'll always find in my place: a mechanical timer and some trimming scissors. The uses are endless, whether you're growing indoor or outdoor, uh, turning on a fan or a light for indoor, um, having a pump on a timer, and these trimming scissors, self-explanatory. But, uh, for topping, trimming your plants, uh, pruning, these are great. I'll usually have four or five sets of these on hand.
Um, as far as pest management, here's a couple of things that I found really valuable, especially outdoors. The BT, of course, this is gonna be strictly for outdoor. This is gonna help to kill any caterpillars that may develop on your buds. So, uh, spraying this through early veg all the way up into early flower is gonna help keep those caterpillars from hurting your plants.
And then this one, I know there's no perfect solution for a spray to kill everything, but this one's nice and gentle. It'll help with mold, it'll help with little flying creatures and pests. It's called Plant Therapy. And it has, uh, essential oils like mint in it, and it also has a little bit of alcohol, so it doesn't leave any residue on your plants. And, um, I wouldn't spray anything on my plants into flower, but in rare cases, this one is probably your best bet since it's not gonna leave any residue. So this stuff is great to have on hand, throw in a sprayer and hit those plants at least once a week.
Here's another invaluable tool, and, um, I usually have a couple of these on hand along with some calibration fluid. So this is particularly important if you're growing with mineral-based nutrients and you have to keep your pH in line. For organic growers, this is still valuable. It helps you to kind of troubleshoot things. Uh, most organic growers aren't gonna be adjusting their nutrient solution, especially with, uh, dry top feeds, but you can check your runoff and make sure that, uh, you're having pH levels pretty in line with what you would expect to see. And so, um, yeah, I've used a few different pH pens over the years, but this is my go-to. It's really easy to calibrate, and these things are pretty bulletproof.
So it's always good to filter and treat your water. And for growing outdoors, I tend to stay away from an RO system. I just want that, uh, chlorine taken out. So this is a great filter for that. It has, I think, a 7,500 gallon capacity on the filters, there's a few different filters that you can get, whether you're running city water or well water. And what's really great about this is I got a second one of these for my indoor setup. So in the case where I want to run an RO, uh, this has an upgraded attachment. So this hooks to the top of your dechlorinator and it turns it into an RO. And what's nice about that is it takes the same filters. So if you are servicing, uh, your indoor setup with your RO and your dechlorinator for outdoors, you can buy the same set of filters. And, um, usually I think it takes about three gallons of water to make one gallon of RO, and there is a little bypass on here. So if you're just looking to get your PPMs lower and not necessarily to zero, you can, uh, bypass on this RO filter and get a little bit better efficiency without taking it to zero. So, uh, this'll save you some water and a lot of heartache.
This is a line that I really like. They make a bloom formula, a grow formula, and some other additives. And this particular one is kind of a microbial boost, but, uh, for the organic growers, you can top dress your plants and just feed water. I think, uh, some of these products take about one scoop per plant once a week. And so if you are tired of messing with the nutrients and trying to figure out levels and PPMs, these are really great. It's gonna improve soil health. The plants are gonna love it, and I really enjoy this line.
Okay, so last but not least, this Roots Organics 707 is my personal favorite. I most often use this one. And it has a specific formula. I think it has a bit of peat moss mixed in, and so it has a bit better water retention, which is especially useful in a greenhouse setting, but it has, uh, a lot of amendments already mixed in. And the cool thing about this one, you can slice the top off, poke a few holes in the bottom, and this 20-gallon container, you can grow right in it. Yeah, this Roots 707, one of my favorite soils — there are things like Ocean Forest and Happy Frog, but as far as, uh, volume and price, this stuff is really great.
